Whats the Best Country To Live?

Whats the best country?

The top 5 as per Best County Brand 2008 survey were;

Australia
Canada
USA
Italy
Switzerland

To see the full list visit Best Country 2008.

I am on the list!!! Do you agree with their survey?

Do You Know the 8 Generations of the 20th Century?

These days the news is all about the Baby Boomers retiring, and how Gen X and Gen Y complain! But what of the other generational groups? How many are there?

Head over the Baby Boomer Lifestyle to see the go.

The list doesn't include Generation Jones though - the very group I am part of. For more on them see Generation Jones!

How do you feel about where you sit in the scheme of things. I thought of myself as a 'cusper' until now, but think the Gen Jones tag fits better than being slotted in with the Baby Boomer niche.

Downsizing To The Extreme

The Japanese have always been the masters of copying and making better. Well this is downsizing to the max. I don't think I have ever seen such a small house. Located near Narita airport outside Tokyo this house has to be seen to be believed.

Weight and Size Really Does Cost You!

It seems that passenger weight and size are now seen as a revenue opportunity for the airlines.

Read this over at BBL site;

I almost fell out of my seat today when I read that the Australian airline Qantas are now going to charge extra for passengers who request crossover or emergency exit rows! Aiming at overweight or tall people they expect to pick up another $2500 or so on each flight by doing so.

Great Whites and Boomers

A great story on a visit to see the Great White Sharks in South Africa.

Nature watching excursions are a gamble for baby boomer travelers. The weather must cooperate, you have to be in the right place at the right time and the animals need to participate. That’s what makes it an adventure. You never know what you’re going to get.

Kayak Fishing - Great For Baby Boomers

If anyone out there is at a loose end and wants to take up a great sport then I can't recommend Kayak Fishing enough.   Unless I am after a feed then its catch and release.   But the main attraction is just getting out with a few 'mates' and let the world go by.

You can go for the paddle or peddle option.... but more of that later.

Its amazing what you can catch - click here to see - Kayak Fishing Video

Twitter On The Blog

Being tech challenged at times I am very pleased with myself as I managed to get a Twitter Widget onto the blog.   Will twitter this news and see if it actually works.

Boomers Getting Old!

I was just over at youtube and saw this.    Yep, I think all boomers can relate or are beginning to relate to this.

Skype - A Great Tool For Boomers

I have to mention this as Skype has made a huge difference to my life. Its really opened the world up for a very minimal cost. Here is some info I posted over at www.BabyBoomerLifestyle.com

What would I do without Skype! I was fortunate enough to come across it in the ealy days, pre eBay buyout and have been using it ever since for all my national and international calls.

Skype is now one of the longest VoIP providers around and was developed by the guys who developed Kaaza - the music sharing program some years ago.

The huge up take of Skype in the past few years must be due in part to the ease of use and installation. This for a technophobe like me is a must. Within minutes of the download and selecting a username, you can be chatting with family or friends on the other side of the country or indeed the world.

The only small hiccup you might have is that to talk for free the person you wish to speak with must also have the software and a username as Skype is a peer-to-peer system. You call the username and not a number from your little control panel on the screen.

Deep Vein Thrombosis - DVT

DVT is becoming a bigger issue as more older people travel.

Below are a couple of things that can happen when flying......

* The central blood vessels in your legs can be compressed, making it harder for the blood to get back to your heart.
* Muscles can become tense, resulting in backaches and a feeling of excessive fatigue during, and even after your flight.
